#1 Best Tools and Tips from the Trenches of Breast Cancer

I am a breast cancer survivor. A survivor friend sent me Tools and Tips. The writers are not only journalists and medical professionals. They are cancer surviviors and have already gone through a lot of what the newly diagnosed have yet to face. The book doesn’t focus on medical information but is about how to deal with fear, crying, feeling isolated and helpless. I learned to let friends and even strangers help despite my expectation of doing it myself. (I couldn’t.) It was the best HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS I found. My family is distant so I was doing breast cancer with helpful friends. The book is full of tips like when the bandage comes off the mastectomy look down at your chest before looking in a mirror. There is nutrition information, lots about keeping spirits up, chemotherapy and hair loss (a hat party for the patient can be fun and provides an instant hat wardrobe). If a friend is diagnosed with breast cancer, please send her this book.

One of the many great parts of this book is the fact that there are many tips given to help women out while they are going through breast cancer. It’s also very enjoyable to read because there is information from women who have gone through it themself. Good Book!

This book is very good and full of excellent, highly productive tips. It is an easy, quick read and is great for reading on the go. In addition, as another reviewer mentioned, its efficient size it great for carrying with you in a purse, bag, etc. I, for one, will be looking for other books from this author!

Everything about this book, from the easy-to-read type to the important tips Mary shares to the actual size of the book — just the right size to fit inside your purse and refer to whenever you need a boost — really is right on the mark. I love the fact that there are other voices too, stories and info from other women who have gone through the journey and have this wisdom to share. Good book, brave book, important book.
